The Man Show

August 31st 2006 06:00
The Man Show was a half hour comedy television show on Comedy Central, and the Comedy Channel in Australia. It was created in 1999 by its two original co-hosts, Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla, and their executive producer Daniel Kellison. The show celebrated the male perspective in a sexually charged, humorous light. The show consisted of a variety of pre-recorded comedy sketches and live in-studio events, usually requiring audience participation.
The Man Show is particularly well-known for its buxom female models, the Juggy Dance Squad, who would dance in themed, revealing costumes at the opening of every show, and in the aisles of the audience just before the show went to commercial break.

Every episode of the man show ended with the German drinking toast "Ziggy Socky, Ziggy Socky, Hoy, Hoy, Hoy!",

Here is a great clip of Kimmel and Carolla messing with people at a truck stop.

The "Man Show Boy", an overweight teenager named Aaron Hamill with a sharp wit and rude mouth, was very popular with fans. Here's a clip of him using some fake i.d.s to buy liquor and porn.

There had to be a clip of the Man Show Juggies in here somewhere. Here we ask "What would guys do in an elevator full of Juggies?"

In 2003, Kimmel and Carolla left the show and the job of hosting was passed down to Fear Factor host Joe Rogan and comedian Doug Stanhope. Whereas the The Man Show struck a successful balance between celebrating masculinity and lightheartedly mocking machismo during the Kimmel-Carolla era, under Rogan and Stanhope it took a decidedly darker approach. The show lost its luster with most fans, leading to its eventual cancellation.

Fear not, however, as an Australian version of the show is currently being developed by The Comedy Channel, set to be based in Brisbane.

The Benny Hill Show

August 30th 2006 05:57
Alfred Hawthorn Hill (January 21, 1924 – April 20, 1992), better known as Benny Hill, was a prolific English comic, actor & singer, best known for his television programme, The Benny Hill Show. Since its debut in 1955 his television show has been sold to over 140 countries worldwide, with viewership in the billions.

The Benny Hill Show featured him in innumerable short sketches portraying a leering, lecherous, never-quite-succeeding, yet charming protagonist. He was very versatile and appeared in many different costumes. Slapstick and double entendre were his hallmark.
He used sped-up film — also known as 'Undercranking' — and sight gags to create what he called 'live animation' and he masterfully employed techniques like mime and parody. He was also a skilled composer and singer of patter songs.

This is a classic Benny Hill sketch entitled "Scouts & Guides".

Here is another clip, "Hospital", showing that simple and silent Comedy is the best.

Finally, below is a longer but classic Benny Hill sketch entitled "Ladrones (Thieves)."

Monty Python - SPAM

August 29th 2006 06:06
This was the final sketch of the 25th show of Monty Python's Flying Circus, and was first aired December 15, 1970. Despite its shortness, the sketch became immensely popular. The word "SPAM" is uttered at least 132 times.

The sktech is still famous 36 years on because the phenomenon of marketers drowning out discourse by flooding individuals' email with junk mail advertising messages was named spamming, as it is repeated again and again to great annoyance, sometimes drowning out everything else - just like the word spam in the sketch.

The skit features Terry Jones as The Waitress, Eric Idle as Mr. Bun and Graham Chapman as Mrs. Bun. The televised skit also featured John Cleese as The Hungarian, but this part was left out of audio recordings of the sketch.

Only three and a half minutes long, it builds up into a semi-argument between the waitress who has a menu limited to having SPAM in just about everything ("SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, sausage, eggs and SPAM"), and Mrs. Bun, who is the only one in the room who does not want it.

At several points, a group of Vikings in the restaurant drown out all conversation by loudly singing a song about "SPAM, lovely SPAM, wonderful SPAM." They are interrupted by the waitress several times, but they resume singing more and more loudly until at last the song reaches an operatic climax.

Talking Dogs

August 24th 2006 06:03
People love it when they have a dog that seems to be able to repeat some words which have been said to it many times. I'm not convinced the dogs are actually talking, it could be just a coincidence that the noises the dog makes sound a little like actual words.

Anyway, below are some dogs that don't do a bad job of talking

Sarah Kate Silverman (born December 2, 1970) is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and writer.
Her innocent outward appearance and sing-song delivery is in direct contrast to much of her comic material, in which she deals with many controversial topics.
Silverman earned national exposure after earning a role on the 1993-94 season of Saturday Night Live, and she has had a small role in movies such as There's Something About Mary, Say It Isn't So, School of Rock, The Way of the Gun, Overnight Delivery, Screwed, Heartbreakers, and Rent. She also had a one-woman stand-up comedy act which was released as a feature film, Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic

Borat

August 15th 2006 06:52
Borat Sagdiyev, is another character by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen who some beleive to be his best yet. He is a Kazakhstani journalist and the almost complete lack of knowledge about Kazakhstan and its culture among typical westerners gives Borat's character license to do whatever he wants; the people Borat interacts with are often extremely afraid of offending him by being intolerant of what they perceive to be cultural differences. The results are very funny, a few examples of Borat's work are below.

Weird Al Yankovic

August 11th 2006 05:20
"The Saga Begins" is a parody by "Weird Al" Yankovic, released from the 1999 album Running With Scissors. To the tune of "American Pie," by Don McLean, it recounts the plot of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, from Obi-Wan Kenobi's point of view. The song managed to give an accurate account of the film, even though the song was written before the film was released. Yankovic says that he wrote the song based on information from Internet spoilers. McLean not only approved the song, but he has also since said that his children have played it so much that he has a tendency to accidentally sing Yankovic's lyrics when performing "American Pie" in concert

Star Wars Kid

August 8th 2006 05:38
The Star Wars Kid is a 15-year-old from Quebec known only as Ghyslain, his parents are keeping his last name secret to protect his identity. Back in November 2002, Ghyslain was goofing off at a school video studio and recorded himself fighting a mock battle with a broomstick lightsaber. Over two minutes, the video shows the lone, overweight teenager twirling his mock lightsaber ever faster while making his own accompanying sound effects.
Yes, we've all had our dorky, private moments, but this poor kid is living the nightmare of having his private dorkiness projected across the world to giggling Web users. His friends found the tape, and uploaded it to KaZaA as a joke on April 19.
